Jomarth Builders 5
Aldenham 3
West Herts League Division OneAldenham's recent good run came to an abrupt end on Saturday as they lost to Jomarth in Hemel Hempstead.
The Blues were 3-0 down by half time and had showed little to suggest a fightback.
Aldenham Manager Pete Holmes was scathing about his side's dreadful first half showing: "The commitment, particularly in the first half, was unacceptable. We're a decent side but you don't beat anyone without trying."
Aldenham's defending as a team was poor, and they gave three goals away to unmarked players, leaving a second half mountain to climb.
Before long, they conceded another goal, which woke the Blues up. Both top-scorer Dave Denty and playmaker Keith Furniss hit the Jomarth posts.
It was Furniss who got Aldenham's first, a cracking shot from 25 yards after good work from lively youngster Ben Rowe.
As Aldenham tried to get back into contention, Darren Wadkins, so powerful at set pieces, scored with two thumping headers, both from great Matt Gravatt deliveries.
Aldenham's under-par defence conceded another goal near the end, to compound a poor display. Man of the match was Wadkins, who worked hard throughout.
ALDENHAM: Mason: Tomkins, A Furniss, Gynne, Gravatt: Rowe, Wadkins, K Furniss, Green, Holmes (Kent), Denty.
