Witham Town 2 Edgware Town 0
Ryman League Division Three
Hit by the loss of key defender Matt Corbould, who has switched to Arlesey Town, Edgware were punished for basic errors in a 2-0 defeat at Witham on Tuesday.
In the 23rd minute, Witham's Kevin Inglis put the home side ahead when a corner found its way to the far post, where Inglis had a simple tap in.
There were few scoring chances in the first half. Too often, Edgware's crosses were not good enough, though Malcolm Allen forced two good saves from keeper Kevin Inglis.
Edgware were well on top territorially in the second half, but were unable to capitalise. Their best attempts came from Rod Juric, with headers that were well saved by Mahoney.
Witham made sure of victory in the 80th minute when Glen Driver met a corner with a header at the far post.
