CELL BARNES OLD BOYS skated into the second round with a fine 4-2 win against Dukes. Leading by two goals, the Old Boys were shocked when Andy Cattermole hit twice to level the scores, before they regained their composure to fire in two late goals.
Marine conditions proved no problem for Mermaid Athletic as they cruised to 6-2 victory over The Plough. Two goals apiece from Dan Rawlinson and Ken Gregg, plus strikes from Andrew Woolmer and Darren Capel took Mermaid into round two.
Phoenix Reserves played some good football, despite the weather, to record a deserved 2-0 win against Oaks, while a motivated Queens Head Logic Reserves survived some scares before claiming a 6-3 victory over Black Horse.
