BISHOP'S Stortford Hockey Club maintained their early season form with a convincing 3-1 win against Cambridge City.
Defensively they played really well and soaked up early pressure from the home team.
Having coped well with the early Cambridge attack, Stortford began to turn the tide, creating some opportunities on the break.
One of these was converted when the whole length of the field was covered with three clinical passes to find Vernon Brown in space on the top of the D, and he finished with a magnificent shot inside the left post.
The result was still in the balance until midway through the second half when Scott Shearing converted two short corners, the first with a well executed drag flick.
The only negative aspect of the match was conceding a soft goal from a short corner. Despite this setback Stortford still controlled the game and ensured there were no further scores.
