AN unusual sight, Father Christmas standing in the street on a bight October day, but madness was the idea of Help the Aged's volunteer day.
Christened MADD - make a difference day - the charity's shop in St Albans Road drafted in the Mayor and Mayoress to serve customers.
The aim was to encourage people to help in the community by volunteering to do something out of the ordinary.
Mrs Una Green, a long-time volunteer at the Watford shop said it was fulfilling to help those needing assistance.
"It makes a difference and I enjoy it," she said.
