A 5-2 score suggests a comprehensive defeat for Riverside at the hands of Wellington Arms in the first round of the Herts Senior Cup, but the story of the match was quite different.
The visitors scored early and despite intense pressure from Riverside, they went into the break 4-0 ahead as their counter attacking game was in perfect working order.
Craig Osborne eventually pulled one back after half time, before Riverside proceeded to do everything but score, hitting the woodwork and seeing efforts cleared off the line.
Radlett Rangers hit four against The Jester, but the joke was on them as the away team scored seven, while Rees Fost struck twice but his efforts were not enough to deny Shamrock Rovers a 4-2 victory over Green Dragon.
College Baron secured a path into the next round by default over Northwood United, while Quadrant would have been better served calling off their match at Boars Head, where they went down 14-1. Matthew Bolton was their lone scorer.
Chris Rimmel and Meridith Ford were also among the scorers, while John O'Briane replied for Converters with a penalty.
