Suffolk Youth U14s 7
Harpenden Colts U14s 2
Bushey LeagueSuffolk pulled off a great home victory against previously-undefeated Harpenden on Sunday with a fine team performance.
Suffolk gave the Colts the run-around in the opening minutes, playing some neat football to take a two-goal lead.
Firstly, Sam Hatton crossed for Mat Hudson to rise and score, and then Brian Green slipped the ball through for Jack Dyer to slot past the keeper.
After this early success Suffolk slowed down, allowing Harpenden to get back into the game.
Kevan Marshall and Kirk Stout had to work hard to keep them out, but could not stop them pulling a goal back just before half time.
But Josh Godden back-heeled past the Harpenden number three and Danny Woolveridge then won the ball and fed Russel Alam, who set Dyer free to cross onto the head of Chris Drury for the goal of the match.
Colts pulled a goal back before Niall Hardiman and Mat Tillbrook at the back sealed things up, giving Harpenden no more opportunities. Godden then got on the end of the crosses from Dyer and Jordan Giorgiou to complete his hat-trick. In the final minute Tim Soane converted a penalty to complete the scoring.
