Next year's festival parade could be shortened under proposals being discussed by the town council.
The parade has gone along the same four-mile route through Borehamwood's shopping areas for 25 years, but it is becoming tiring for participants, as more walking entries are joining the procession.
Parade organiser Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council is considering shortening the route, to leave out the Manor Way and Leeming Road shopping areas. The council's entertainments officer, Paul Welsh, said there were usually plenty of people watching the procession in Shenley Road, Manor Way and Leeming Road.
But he said there was a long walk between the various shopping districts, where fewer people watch the parade.
One new route being considered would start at the Brook Road car park, move along Shenley Road and then return to the car park, either via Stratfield Road or Aycliffe Road.
The council is calling on people to send in their comments or ideas for a new route.
