TWENTY Watford Joggers joined almost 600 others in pleasant conditions for a record breaking Ricky Road Run on Sunday over a well established course of 18 years.

Peter Benjamin continues to astonish his team mates with the second fastest time from a first team jogger for ten years, but his performance was matched by Sharon Kassemzadeh who, returning recently from a break from competition, was thrilled with an easy personal best.

Training partner Greg Hill was second jogger home, while John Cherry also finished comfortably in a pleasing time. Michael Brogden made a welcome return as did Dickie Dickinson. Samantha Watling made her race debut and finished strongly.

Meanwhile, the Watford Joggers are again presenting their Autumn Challenge to the public; a challenging but picturesque five mile multi-terrain race around Whippendell Woods and Cassiobury Park.

The race takes place on Sunday, November 11 at 11am and costs £4 for individuals, £3 if a member of an affiliated running club, or £20 for a team of between six and ten.

This year's race will incorporate a leg of the Herts Sunday Cross Country League and a large field is expected. The slower runner is very welcome and encouraged to participate.

Race Headquarters will be at the Sun Postal Sports and Social Club in Bellmount Wood Avenue.
