MICAH HYDE and Gifton Noel-Williams could be in the frame for Saturday's (November 3) game as they bid to recover from their injuries.
Barnsley, who lost to Manchester City in mid-week, are set to continue with a 4-4-2 formation and are expected to start on Saturday with the team that finished on Wednesday with New Zealander Dave Mulligan retaining his place after coming on for
*Dominic Foley has sustained a torn hamstring. Foley was loaned for a month to QPR last week, with a view to a three-month stint.
"At that stage, Gifton was fit, and Luca saw it as an ideal opportunity for him to play first-team football," said Terry Byrne.
"He played 25 minutes and he is out for around six weeks. Whether they will want to renew the loan after he is fit, we don't know."
* Nigel Gibbs saw the specialist last week and was told he needed more time to recover from the groin problem. There is no need for any further surgery.
* Allan Nielsen is still some way from recovery. He too took specialist opinion last week after running on the ankle a couple of times but still experiencing discomfort.
* Paolo Vernazza is back in action, the stab wound was out the outside of his thigh (10 stitches) and through, underneath the muscle and out the top bit and further stitches on the top.
Said Vialli: "Vernazza came back quicker than expected. He is a fit guy and mentally he is alright and I think this performance will help him to get back match-fit as quickly as possible, He is very important to us and therefore once we have got all the key players back I think we will get better.
* Micah Hyde, substituted against Nottingham Forest last week, was less than pleased because he felt a recurrence of a calf pain he had experienced two or three weeks earlier. He is working with the fitness trainers.
* David Noble had a bout of flu on Friday night and has now recovered, having been substitute on Tuesday.
* The aftermath of Marcus Gayle's lower back problem has taken "longer than anticipated" to clear up. He has run this week but is still not totally comfortable.
* Gifton Noel-Williams has had an ankle problem and resumed training on Wednesday (October 31) with the fitness coaches. It will be touch and go for Saturday.
