A CHORLEYWOOD schoolgirl became the youngest ever to win a national cadet title, when she stormed to victory in the UK under 17s ladies' foil championships at the Whitchurch Sports Centre in Bristol on Saturday, October 27.
Dominique Stowell, a year nine pupil, beat off competition from 30 girls from around Britain to win the coveted title.
The competition began well for Dominique won her five group stage fights with relative ease, scoring 25 hits for with only five hits against.
Similarly, she progressed through the first two knock out rounds simply enough, with comfortable 15-5 and 15-9 victories before beating South London's Clare Bennet by 15-7.
In the final she overcame Hannah Bryars, another excellent young left-hander from Plymouth who has achieved outstanding success this year at senior level by 15-8.
