BRIANS BUNGALOWS survived a difficult second half to progress to the third round of the Herts Intermediate Cup with 4-2 victory over RD.

Paul Wheeler had given his side an ideal start with a first half hat-trick, the best goal of which was a back post finish from a driven Andy Conway cross.

However, the visitors reduced the deficit with a penalty five minutes into the second half, and became an even greater threat after Bungalows had two players dismissed.

RD made it 3-2 shortly afterwards, and would have equalised but for a fine penalty save from Bungalows keeper Tony McEvoy.

In the dying minutes, the home victory was made secure with an RD own-goal, but the two-goal winning margin did not tell the full story of a combative match.

There was less uncertainty about BK Sport's 7-0 thrashing of Hopfields United, while a last-minute winner removed AFC Artichoke from the competition as they lost 3-2 at home to St Josephs.

Lee Smith was on target twice for Abbots Langley, but this team never got out of first gear in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Queens Head Logic.

Robin Electronics were another team that fell in the second round, going down 4-1 to Sellers, meanwhile goals from Martin Malloy and Dave Burdock were not enough to further White Lion's interest in the cup, as Riverside Hotspur triumphed 4-2 at Cassiobury and Brixton Rovers were outplayed in a 5-1 defeat at home to Hexton.

North Bushey RBL are in the third round without having kicked a ball in the second. They progressed past AFC Cricketers by default.
