A MAN armed with a knife stole a small amount of cash from Martins' newsagents and sub post office in Eastbury Road, Oxhey, on Thursday afternoon.
The man, described as a 19 or 20-year-old Asian around 5ft 10ins tall, wore a baseball cap and a dark blue top.
He approached the counter where a woman was standing by the till. He produced a knife and demanded money. She handed him notes from the till and he ran off.
Detective Constable Paul Hedges said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the robbery and may have seen the man enter or leave the shop.
"The shop is close to a set of traffic lights at the junction with Brookdene Avenue and there is usually a queue of traffic waiting there some of the drivers may have seen something and I would urge them to get in touch."
Witnesses can contact Mr Hedges on 01923 472066.
