With Directors' ranks depleted through injuries, the Borehamwood side was more than well-served by replacements Scott Lacey and Alan Moss.
Moss opened the scoring when he latched onto a through ball from Lacey, and scored the second goal with a spectacular overhead kick. His hat-trick came when Hammer's keeper could only parry a fierce drive from Matt Morris, for Moss to tap home.
Scott Green got his first when his solo run beat Hammer's offside trap.
Then Matt Morris' powerful run made it five, when he rode two tackles to slot home just before the break.
From the restart Hammers began to push players forward, calling on Directors' stand in sweeper Lee Smith to make two fine saving tackles.
Hammers' effort was rewarded when a poor clearance was intercepted, allowing the visitors to score.
This spurred on Directors. Scott Green scored his second, and Alan Moss converted a pass from Morris for his fourth.
Scott Green scored his third just before the final whistle, to see Directors in the draw for the third round of the county cup.
