Borehamwood's largest employer this week warned that jobs could be lost when it embarks on a re-structuring plan to prepare itself for the years ahead.
One2One, which has 2,600 staff based at four centres in the town, has announced that it intends to carry out a full review of its business interests.
The mobile phone firm claims that it wants to focus its skills and resources on particular areas of its business, to consolidate its market position.
This week One2One dismissed claims, understood to have originated from staff in Borehamwood, that it could shed ten per cent of its workforce as speculation.
In a statement, the firm said: "One2One intends to conduct a complete business review, in the process creating new and powerful ways of operating.
This may result in a reduction of the company's overall headcount. However, One2One will be concentrating its efforts on minimising any effects this might have."
One2One, which is owned by Deutsche Telekom, employs 7,000 staff across the country, and has four premises in the Elstree Way area.
Imperial Place is the firm's national headquarters, and customer services and technical services staff are based at Studio Plaza, Elstree Tower and Elstree Gate.
The company this week said it could not predict when an announcement would be made about jobs.
