THIS year is the 80th anniversary of the Royal British Legion and residents throughout south west Hertfordshire are being encouraged to attend Remembrance Sunday services which are taking place throughout the area this weekend.

Watford

Watford Mayor Councillor Sybil Tuckwood will lead a civic wreath laying ceremony at the Peace Memorial in front of the Town Hall at 3pm. She will also lay flowers at the Anne Frank tree in Library Square to remember children who have suffered in wars and conflicts.

The Royal Naval Association is holding a service at St Mary's Parish Church in Church Street, Watford, at 10.40am.

A two minutes silence and wreath laying ceremony will be held at 10.45am at the War memorial in Vicarage Road Cemetery.

Three Rivers

A service will take place at 9.45am at St Mary's Church in Church Street, Rickmansworth. Councillor Gladstone Providence will attend.

Councillor Ann Shaw OBE will attend a service at 10.45am at St Thomas's Church in West Hyde.

All Saints Church in Croxley Green will hold a service at 3pm. Councillor Phil Brading will attend.

Christ Church in The Common, Chorleywood, is hosting a service at 3pm which will be attended by Councillor Barbara Lamb.

A service is being held at 10.30am at St Peter's Church in Berry Lane, Mill End. This will be attended by Councillor Juliet Pendlebury.

Chairman of Three Rivers District Council Geoff Emery will attend a service at 10.50am at St Lawrence's Church in High Street, Abbots Langley.

Councillor Nena Spellen will attend a service at 10am at South Oxhey Methodist Church in South Oxhey.

Councillor Tony Barton will attend a service at 10.30am at Holy Cross Church in The Green, Sarratt.

Hertsmere

A wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial in School Lane, Bushey, at 2pm. Participants will then make their way down the hill to the United Reform Church for a service at 2.20pm. Hertsmere Mayor Councillor William Hogan and Mayoress Mrs Mary Hogan will attend. Councillor Hogan will read a lesson.

Residents in Aldenham can assemble at the War Memorial in Letchmore Heath at 9.45am for the laying of wreaths. This will be followed by a service at Aldenham Church, during which there will be a two minute silence. Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council Councillor Neil Payne will attend.

In Radlett, a service will be held at 10am in Christ Church in Watling Street. Participants will leave the church at 10.40am and walk to the War Memorial by 10.50am to lay wreaths followed by a two minute silence. Councillor Stuart Nagler will attend.

Dacorum

In Bovingdon a service will be held at St Lawrence Church in Church Lane at 11am.

An outdoor service will take place in Chipperfield at the War Memorial on the Common from 10.55am to 11.05am. This will be followed by a service at St Paul's Church in The Common.

The Kings Langley service will take place at All Saints Church in High Street, at 3pm.

The Mayor of Dacorum Councillor Derek Townsend will take part in a march starting at the Civic Centre in Hemel Hempstead at 10.20am. This will be followed by a service and wreath laying at St John's Church in Boxmoor.
