They start them young at Watford FC. The Nationwide League First Division club have opened an official football development centre for six to nine-year-olds at Whitefield School Astroturf Arena, Cricklewood.
Director of coaching Roy Dunn said:"The aim of the centre is developing the skills and enjoyment of the game at a young age All coaching is free, and there are also special sessions for goalkeepers.
Sessions are free and are held on Fridays from 6pm to 8pm). For further information call Roy Dunn on 020 8203 5590. Boys who do well are invited to join the Watford Academy.
