WATFORD Football Club continues to show its commitment to helping the local community.
On Saturday, November 3, during the Golden Boys' match against Barnsley, the club presented cheques to three local organisations through the Watford FC Charity Fund, which is managed by the Hertfordshire Community Foundation.
The Watford-based Millennium Volunteers received the help of the football club, together with Mencap's Leisure Together scheme, to build a sensory garden for the LeMarie Centre in Watford.
The club also presented a cheque to Herons Youth FC to help towards the restoration of their clubhouse, which was attacked by vandals and burnt down last month. Herons is a member of the Bushey Friendly League, which is sponsored by Watford FC.
A third cheque was presented to the Watford Old People's Welfare Association, who were in need of a new freezer for their Darby and Joan Club in Exchange Road, Watford.
The club's Glen Calverley said: "We are keen to support the needs of a wide variety of organisations within our locality because they are all important sources of support and entertainment for members of our community."
