A BUSHEY school has played host to an ambassador for a school in Ghana.
Staff from Falconer School in Falconer Road invited Mr Richard Alandu, project manager of the Sandema Educational Resource Centre in Ghana, to work with them for a week at the end of May.
The visit follows staff member Mr Stephen O'Neil's visit to Ghana last year, where he worked as a volunteer.
Headteacher John Page said: "It is absolutely wonderful to have Richard come and work with us, not only has he proved himself to be an amazing ambassador, he has become a very close friend.
"He has taught us a lot about African schools and made us realise just how lucky we are in Britain.
"The children have taken to him and have been fascinated by his stories about Africa. We are absolutely honoured to have him here."
Commenting on his visit, Mr Alandu said: "When I first saw the school I could not believe how many facilities it had.
"Its workshop is packed with tools, its library is packed with books. In my school the workshops are empty and the books are limited.
"But both schools have one thing in common and that is the vibrant and lively atmosphere."
He added: "I have also had the opportunity to taste a bit of British life, I have been to London to see its sites, and I think fish and chips are great."
The school will continue to raise funds for Sandema and teachers are hoping to visit Ghana next year.
