RIDING the wave of euphoria created by England's World Cup victory over Argentina, and the jubilee celebrations, Abbots Langley held its "best ever" carnival.
Hundreds turned out to create a festive community atmosphere at the 20th annual event on Saturday, June 8.
And the procession of floats through the village echoed the previous week end's scenes in London, with Union flags and nods in the direction of royalty in abundance.
Mr Reg Nice, president of the Abbots Langley local history society, said the high level of support for the carnival was evidence of a "vibrant community".
He said: "This is very good indeed, and probably the most successful carnival ever."
