Chioma Ajunwa, Shaftesbury Barnet's former Olympic long jump champion, won with a leap of 6.56m at an international meeting in Dortmund, Germany.

She will be representing Nigeria in next month's Commonwealth Games.

Several Shaftesbury Barnet athletes performed well in national championship and Games trial meetings. In the Irish championships, Zoe Brown won the pole vault with 3.80m.

Nick Smith (100m, 10.50sec); Lee McConnell (200m, 23.79sec) and Navdeep Dhaliwal (discus, 44.15m) were successful in the Scottish event.

Colin McMaster was third in the high jump with 1.95m and Gemma Nicol was second in the 400m in 55.05sec, a new club U17 and U20 record.

In the Welsh championships, Catherine Murphy (100m, 12.34sec), Robert Mitchell (high jump, 2.10m) and Graham Holder (hammer, 58.52m) were winners.

- Barnet and District AC's men's Southern League team, achieved another good win at New River Stadium, Haringey, on Saturday, beating Harlow, Herts Phoenix and Eastbourne AC.

Chi Tsang ended a busy day with a victory in the 200m in 23.9sec, with Peter Ilo taking the 'B' string.

Sean Dixon won the 1500m comfortably in 3min 57.6sec, for an English schools' U20 entry qualification.

Dave Wilcox won the 3000m steeplechase and the 400m hurdles 'B'. Richard Gamble ran a well-judged race to take the 5000m 'A' race and Keith Turner won the 'B' run.

There was also a double for Barnet in the relays. Tsang, Goddard, Ilo and Holden won the 4 x 100m in 47.00sec and the B string of Wilcock, Goddard, D Wilcock and Ilo were successful in the 4 x 400m in 3min 38.9sec.
