RADLETT LADIES BOWLS CLUB made history on Thursday after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the County Fours thanks to a nail-biting victory at Harpenden.
In a match that went down to the final wood, Harpenden took command early on and at the half-way stage found themselves 8-4 ahead with only some outstanding play from the number three Judy Hope and telling woods at the right time from skip Sheila Embleton keeping Radlett in touch.
In an amazing turnaround, Radlett lead Enid Horsford and number two Pat Greenbegan to find their way and, with Harpenden unable to deal with the pressure, mistakes began to creep in to their game as the visitors took 11 shots without reply to lead 15-8.
However, Radlett entered the final end with only a one shot advantage but Embleton held her nerve to clinch a 16-14 victory with the final shot of the match.
