A WATFORD man has been appointed sales and marketing director of a market-leading numberplate manufacturer.

Roy Hamilton, who works for Birmingham-based Hills Numberplates Limited, previously held the position of sales manager and headed up the 11 strong sales team.

Over the past 12 months Hills sales have grown by more than 25 per cent and their market share is well in excess of 50 per cent.

The company also under went a management buy-out in November last year. Mr Hamilton will still have overall responsibility for the sales team and will be working closely with directors Michael Cordell and Richard Taffinder to develop sales and marketing strategies.

Mr Hamilton said: "I am delighted with the promotion and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. The last 12 months or so have seen exciting times within numberplate manufacturing with the introduction of new format plates and new vehicle licensing laws coming into force.

"Hills has always been a strong player in the marketplace, and we have worked hard to widen the gap between ourselves and our competitors by investing in design and development of new production systems and manufacturing techniques.

We are also developing links abroad and part of my new role will include developing these new markets further."

Mr Hamilton is married with two grown-up daughters.
