Boreham Wood Football Club this week announced that admission prices for home matches would remain the same for next season in an attempt to attract larger crowds.

Chairman Danny Hunter said season ticket prices would also be the same as last year, despite the fact that there will be two extra home matches next season due to the league increasing in size.

"We will also hold two family days at the club next season, when local children under 16 will be invited to watch our first team for free," he added.

Wood's first team manager and director of football, Micky Engwell, is optimistic about the team's prospects this year, and is currently looking for a manager for the new reserve team.

He said: "If we can get an increase in support from local people, I am convinced we will improve."

Micky said he had been impressed by the recent six-a-side football tournaments organised by the club, although he hoped more people and organisations would show support for Boreham Wood FC. "It is no use wanting a successful club at this level if you are not prepared to support it vocally, or financially, through sponsorship," he said.

"In the two years that I have been associated with the club, we have won the Ryman Division One title and the Herts Senior Cup with very limited support from the terraces.

"The fans we have are very loyal, as I have seen in both seasons, but we need more. If people want to keep our best players at the club and have FA Cup runs, then they should commit two or three Saturdays to the club next season surely it is not too much to ask."

Anyone interested in providing sponsorship, or who would like further information about the club, is invited to call Micky Engwell on 020 8953 5097.
