This was a game of missed chances and did not mirror any of the skill or potent finishing currently on display at the World Cup.
The goalless first half was scrappy. Good chances fell to Margerrson and Parrot, but they failed to find the back of the net. Zenon's keeper had a terrific half, as his defence seemed to go walkabout.
In the second half the Fats were pegged back. Howroyd, the Fats keeper, pulled off a string of saves to deny a rampant Zenon side.
The Fats counter-attacked well to create good goal scoring opportunities. Margesson struck twice in quick succession, with Mitchinson adding a third.
"It was a game where the result mattered more than the performance," said vice captain Cole. The Fats hold on to the top position with a slender lead over IC5 Bellies, who they meet in two weeks' time in the top of the table clash.
THE FAT, SLOW AND UGLY: Howroyd, Cole, Coleman, Readings, Mitchinson, Margesson, Parrot.
