Members of the Elstree and Borehamwood Rotary Club celebrated 60 years of helping the community at a dinner recently.
More than 70 Rotarians attended the dinner, and were joined by the organisation's national president, David Liddiatt, along with the Mayor of Hertsmere Stuart Nagler and his wife Ros.
The Elstree and Borehamwood branch of the organisation was established in 1942, and since then Rotarians have supported a variety of local, national and international causes.
"I am a member of the Rotary Club in Radlett, so I felt privileged to be there," said Mr Nagler, adding: "I am very aware of the work that the Rotary Club does in the community locally, and I hope it goes on serving the community for another 60 years."
Chris Watts, the secretary and treasurer of the Elstree and Borehamwood Rotary Club, said the dinner had been a great success: "The national president gave a very good, amusing speech, and our president Peter Challis went back over the things that had happened since the club was formed."
