A man has appeared in court following two attempted robberies at post offices in the Borehamwood area on Wednesday last week.
Mathew Deagan, aged 32, of no fixed address, was charged with attempting to rob the post office in Hartforde Road, Borehamwood, at 4.30pm last Wednesday, and Shenley Post Office, in London Road, 20 minutes later. Nothing was stolen in either incident.
Police arrested Mr Deagan while he was driving along Elstree Way, shortly after the incident at Shenley Post Office, and also arrested his passenger, 19-year-old Daniel Tyndale.
Both Mr Deagan and Mr Tyndale, of no fixed address, were charged with aggravated burglary in relation to an incident at the Mops and Brooms pub, in Well End, on the same day.
Mr Deagan has also been charged with driving whilst being unfit to do so through the influence of drugs. At St Albans Magistrates Court on Monday both men were remanded in custody, and committed for trial at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, June 14.
