How frustrating it must have been for the organisers of the Town Festival to discover that many households have not received a copy of the events programme.
Royal Mail claims that it delivered the programme booklets as requested, but investigations by the town council suggest most people did not get one.
The council is naturally worried that residents will not be aware of the events it has organised, and that ticket sales will be low for those shows which require tickets.
However, it is even more concerned that the people it serves will not be able to enjoy the entertainments it has spent months organising on their behalf.
Those readers who have not yet seen a programme are urged to contact the town council, so that they can support this wonderful annual event.

People living in Tempsford Avenue and Wansford Park in Borehamwood will be relieved that bollards are to be placed around the Tempsford Green playing field.
Unfortunately, the borough council estimates it will take two months to complete the work, during which time there is a chance the travellers will return, bringing noise, filth, fear and disruption to people who have already had enough of them.
Once the bollards are installed, it will still be possible for the convoys of caravans to get into the site, but hopefully the travellers will look for a softer target.
People across Hertsmere will be hoping the next open space to be targeted will not be near their homes.
