A CHARITY shop has barred one of its best customers after a row over a T-shirt, it is claimed.

Lorraine Arnott, 21, and her mother, Janice, say they were banned from the Salvation Army shop in The Parade, Watford, which they have visited each week for the past year, when they asked for money off a garment.

Miss Arnott, who is on benefits, collects T-shirts and has more than 200.

She regularly travels from her home in Aylesbury to shop in Watford and often pops into the Salvation Army store, which she visited on Saturday.

She said: "I buy a T-shirt nearly every day of the week. I collect any kind as long as they are colourful."

The red T-shirt which sparked the controversy was emblazoned with the names of the goalscorers in England's 1966 World Cup team and on sale for £4.

Ms Arnott said: "It was filthy so I asked for some money off. We were told there was no chance and told to get out before they called the police. It was totally out of order.

Bartering for goods is not against the shop's rules but staff could not comment on the incident.

A spokesman for the Salvation Army said it was the organisation's policy not to give official statements to the press.
