LONDON COLNEY CRICKET CLUB once again struggled after an insipid display at Berkhamsted second XI although Ian Prior's men did salvage a draw when defeat looked on the cards in this Saracens Herts Division five fixture.

After winning the toss in overcast conditions seemingly ideal for bowling putting the opposition in seemed like the right decision, but only Andy Cole, with 2-49 from 16 overs, bowled with any real conviction, and led by Spooner (74) and Ezard (60 not out) the home side were able to post an impressive looking 215-7.

Things went from bad to worse when Colney batted, and only Jonathan Jenkins (40), recently promoted from the second XI, showed any real commitment to the cause.

Spooner continued his fine performance, taking 7-40 with ball in hand as Colney stumbled to 122-9.

Even denying the home side the win will be of little advantage to Prior whose side will have to step up the level of their performance if they wish to maintain Division Five status this season.
