YOU have been waiting ages for a job then, all of a sudden, 400,000 come along all at once.
This could well be the scenario when a new Job Bus, operated by Hertfordshire Jobcentre Plus in partnership with Arriva Buses, Watford Council and Three Rivers District Council, is launched on Wednesday, June 19.
The Job Bus will tour Hertfordshire, making employment opportunities more accessible to those who are looking for work.
Advisers from local Jobcentres will have access to more than 400,000 jobs nationally including, full, part time, permanent and temporary positions. Application forms will be issued, interviews arranged, and for those that need it, help will be given on preparing a CV and interview techniques. They will be available to give advice on training opportunities.
Arriva Buses and The Royal Mail will be available to talk to people about job oppor- tunities within their organi- sations with other employers using the Jobs Bus to recruit in the future.
Calculations can also be made to establish entitlement to Working Families Tax Credit, Extended Housing Benefit and Council Tax once someone has started work. Specialist advice will be available on the Government's New Deals for Lone Parents, People with Disabilities and people aged over 50.
The new service will first be located at Bridlington Road car park, South Oxhey on Wednesday, June 19, from 10.30am to 12.30pm and at the William Penn Leisure Centre from 1.45pm to 3.45pm.
District manager for Hertfordshire Jobcentre Plus Mr Neil Brettell said: "We are aware some people may not find it easy to attend their local Jobcentre. The aim of the Jobs Bus is to reach as many people as possible. This partnership means that more people than ever will have access to jobs."
