A GRANT request from a local woman to a write a book about South Oxhey has been turned down.
The issue of the donation request was discussed at Watford Rural Parish Council's meeting on Wednesday, June 5.
Parish council clerk Mr Roger Osborn said granting the money for a book by Mrs Rose McNamara, who has already published a book about the area, would create a precedent.
He said: "We have never made a grant for an individual.
"And the question is what more does she have to write about that wasn't in the first one? She sold out of the one she wrote seven years ago, and therefore we are being asked to carry on her living."
Mrs McNamara from Darwin Gardens, South Oxhey, said she was disappointed by the decision especially since she heard £10,000 was awarded to a woman from Chorleywood by its parish council for a similar project.
She said: "I cannot understand it.
"They have never given me anything."
