PEOPLE shopping at Safeway's supermarket in Hatfield Road, St Albans, at the weekend will be offered advice on how to avoid debt and loan sharks.
Members of the new St Albans Credit Union (also in Hatfield Road) will be answering questions and giving information on how the new community bank works and inviting shoppers to sign up.
Founder member John Humphreys said: "We want to make people more aware of the credit union and how we can help. It's a voluntary organisation that offers affordable loans to regular savers with interest rates and repayments much lower than elsewhere."
The Safeway stand will be staffed from 4pm to 7pm on Friday and from 10am to 6pm on Saturday. More information is available from the credit union on 01727 859135.
