A MOTORCYCLIST from Chorleywood has been killed in a road accident in Tring.
A white Peugeot 405 was travelling towards Hemel Hempstead on the A4258 near Pendley Beaches when the accident occurred on Sunday at 3.30pm.
The driver of the car overtook a slow moving vehicle when he collided with two motorcyclists travelling together in the opposite direction.
The driver of a red Kawasaki motorcycle was hit head on and died at the scene.
The second motorcyclist, also from Chorleywood, was taken to West Herts Hospital with back and head injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
A third motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man from Rickmansworth, was uninjured and his vehicle undamaged.
The driver of the Peugeot, an 80-year-old man from Tring, suffered minor lacerations. His wife, also 80, was in shock and suffered seatbelt burns.
Police are appealing for the driver of the Peugeot and any witnesses to the collision, in particular the drivers of two other vehicles that had overtaken the slow moving car before the collision occurred, to come forward.
