QUALITY homes are in huge demand in St Albans, according to a report by Strutt & Parker estate agents.
The report claims that there are too many home-buyers chasing too few properties in the area, and half of purchasers are moving out of London.
Mr Jonathan Allden, of the firm's St Albans office said: "The situation is rather frustrating.
"The supply of new houses coming on to the market is very limited right across the price range. On the other hand there is a good demand for property at every level."
Latest figures show that only one in five people who bought a house from Stutt & Parker in the St Albans area this year were moving locally.
Half of the total were moving out of London, either because of company relocation or in search of a better quality of life. Around 30 per cent of all purchasers were made by people moving into Hertfordshire from other parts of the country.
