Children from Woodlands Primary School in Borehamwood enjoyed watching a special play about recycling on Monday morning.
Recycling clowns Bozo and Zizi were at the school to perform their new play, called What a Waste, about the need to recycle household waste.
Headteacher Linda Forbes said she hoped the show would be performed again soon, as her pupils had enjoyed it: "It put across a very serious message in a fun way, and it was very well presented."
Faye Clamp, Hertsmere's recycling officer, said the show had been staged using money from taxes collected from people using landfill dumps.
"It is a fun and informative play, and we are hoping that by catching kids when they are young, they will take the message on board and also encourage their parents to recycle. Bozo and Zizi also appeared at Newberries Primary School in Radlett, along with schools in Potters Bar and Bushey.
