Pupils at schools in the Shenley area have been busy drawing pictures and writing stories to place in a time capsule which is to be buried to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
The project has been organised by Councillor Rodney Saunders, who represents Shenley on Hertsmere Borough Council, to make the Golden Jubilee a memorable occasion for local children.
Those who have their work placed in the capsule will attend a ceremony for its burial outside the Old Chapel Building, in Porters Park Drive, Shenley, later this summer.
Four schools are taking part, Shenley Primary, Clore Shalom, Manor Lodge and St Giles in South Mimms, as well as a children's playgroup, 2 Jays in Ridge.
All of the children who have drawings, poems or stories in the capsule will be given a certificate and a plaque will be erected to mark the spot where it is buried.
Both Shenley Park Trust and Shenley Parish Council have agreed to contribute towards the costs of the project.
