A SKIP fire that was deliberately started outside a shop in Kings Langley has caused more than £10,000 damage after fireworks stored in a nearby container exploded with the heat.
The fire was started at 4.15am on Tuesday, June 4, outside Taylors Tool, Hempstead Road, Kings Langley.
Mr Tim Taylor, store manager, said Hempstead Road residents were alerted to the blaze after fireworks started exploding in the early hours of the morning.
He said the fire was not life-threatening, but the couple who alerted the police and fire services were evacuated from their home.
He said the quick action of the fire services contained the fire.
Mr Taylor said he was disgusted by what the vandals had done and saddened that the culprits had not been found.
A police spokesman said arson was a very serious and dangerous offence. He said the police were looking for witnesses to the scene, anyone with information can telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
