Stanmore 200 Richmond 90-8: Middlesex County League
Stanmore have incurred a ten-point deduction for including two players, Dhammika Prassada and Umesh Valjee, who were not registered in time to be eligible. The penalty has left them bottom of the table with six points from six matches.
League secretary Charlie Puckett said: "The rules state that players must be registered no later than the Wednesday prior to a match, and failure to do so will result in a compulsory minimum deduction of ten points. Stanmore failed to comply in the case of Umesh Valjee and Dhammika Prassad. This was their second offence in three years."
Valjee, a Stanmore player for several years, was a first team regular, but has played in the lower sides until recently. Prassad joined Stanmore this summer. Similarly, two seasons ago, Stanmore neglected to register Peter Edwards, a long-time player with the club, and the ten-point deduction incurred led to their relegation.
A club spokesman said: "There was a confused situation that resulted in the players not being registered."
On Saturday, Stanmore had much the better of a drawn match with Richmond. After Stanmore totalled 200 (Nick Goh 50, Mark Reingold 39 no) Richmond only managed 90-8 (Julian Makin 4-24, Daminda Wijesekera 3-10).
In the Evening Standard Trophy second round on Sunday, Stanmore beat Winchmore Hill by 78 runs.
Stanmore reached 177-8 (Reingold 39 no, Alastair Fraser 32) and dismissed Winchmore Hill for 99 (Michael Morrison 5-14).
Stanmore visit Ealing on Saturday and entertain Harrow in the National Cup on Sunday.
