IT seems Watford Council will not be joining the web of local authorities who have reduced the classification of the new Spiderman film from a 12 to a PG.
Despite the film's rating given by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) having no legal weight, a spokesperson for the council Ms Samantha Campbell said: "We have no plans to consider a change unless there is an approach from the cinema or complaints from members of the public."
Although there has been no organised public pressure on the council, there have been isolated concerns by parents that the film's rating disqualifies its target audience.
Mrs Brenda Thomas, of Bluebell Drive, Abbots Langley, was disappointed her son, Luke, aged seven, was not allowed to accomapany her to see the film. She said: "It is very unfair. All the film merchandising is geared to his age group."
