Sunbury 128 Brondesbury 129-3
Evening Standard Trophy second round
Sunbury launched an early blitz on Brondesbury's seam attack, racing to 90-1 off 14 overs.
But the introduction of spinner Charlie Sutherland (5-25), aided by a magnificent stumping by wicketkeper John Munro, brought about a significant change.
James Hudson also bowled well, claiming three wickets, as the last nine wickets tumbled for 38 runs and the Surrey side were all out for 128.
Despite an early blow when Will Seller was out first ball, Brondesbury coasted to victory at 129-3, with Tom Simpson (60 not out) continuing his good form.
In the league match against Ealing on Saturday, Brondesbury looked to be heading for the win as their visitors, chasing a target of 187, struggled to 50-5.
However, after eight overs were lost through heavy rain, the shine disappeared from the ball and Ealing eased their way to the four-run rate points at 134-8 (Charles Peploe 49) off 41 overs.
