Finchley 166 Teddington 168-2
Middlesex County League Division One
Finchley suffered another gloomy weekend. After losing by eight wickets at leaders Teddington in the league, who stretched their winning sequence to six, Finchley bowed out of the Evening Standard Trophy in a five-wicket home defeat to Bexley.
Put in by Teddington, Finchley lost wickets steadily with their batsmen unable to build on promising starts.
Paritosh Ghadiali (40) offered stern resistance, but Finchley were dismissed for 166.
Teddington coasted to victory at 166-2 (Andrew Mawson 58 not out).
In the trophy match Finchley soon lost Martin Decauwe. However, Sid Nair and Robbie Hodges sparked a recovery with a stand of 56.
When Nair departed, skipper Keerthi Ranasinghe joined Hodges in adding 57, but a middle order collapse followed as Finchley were bowled out for 173.
Opener David Thompson (70) put Bexley on their way to victory at 174-5, with four overs to spare, despite good spells with the ball by Ranasinghe and Shyam Fernando.
Finchley II 59 (Eddie Hodges 29), Hampstead II 61-3.
