APPROACHING the half-way mark of the Watford Outdoor Veterans Triples Bowls League, defending Division One champions Herts Blue are again proving one of the teams to beat, laying second behind Garston Red with a game in hand.
Herts Blue won their first four matches but were then upset by Rickmansworth by a single shot.
Rickmansworth will hope that victory marks a change in fortunes for them, after three defeats in a row at the start of their campaign suggested that two successive promotions had left them slightly out of their depth.
The other newly-promoted side in Division One, Owls Red, is also faring well, currently in fourth place but just two points off the lead.
