I would like to congratulate council leader Victor Lyon and his Conservative colleagues for having the courage to reopen and quash the action of the last Labour administration for attempting to sell the freehold of the Barnet football ground for a pittance.
It is shameful of the last Labour administration to have gone about selling the freehold of the football club in such a disgraceful manner.
The public should have been notified of the council's intention. The sale should have been at open market value and this is generally achieved via a public auction. None of these procedures have been followed and it is disgraceful.
If the football club cannot expand within its present boundaries, then it should look to relocate within Barnet, or somewhere else. Copthall Stadium for instance is under-used and is ideal for it.
