A RADLETT mother of two will be strutting her stuff on the catwalk this autumn when she takes part in a prestigious Breast Cancer Care fashion show.

Mrs Caroline Boydell is one of 20 women from all over the country selected to take part in the show held at the London Hilton.

The 45-year-old, who has had breast cancer, will be transformed into a stunning catwalk model by leading fashion designers Catherine Walker, Amanda Wakeley and Betty Jackson.

High street fashion will be provided by BHS, sponsors of the show, George at ASDA and Next, with makeup by Estee Lauder.

The show will be hosted by top celebrities Zoe Ball and Claire Sweeney.

Mrs Boydell said: "After breast surgery there is despair at the thought of never being the same again - but this has been proved by so many to be a myth.

"It is vital to spread the word that with help, good medical backup and emotional support it is possible to lead a normal life after breast cancer."

Mrs Boydell - who was diagnosed with cancer in June 2000 - is now in the all clear and has regular checkups every three months.

The counselling student at the University of Hertfordshire said it was possible to look and feel good after breast cancer, whether it was wearing a swimsuit or a nice bra.

She said: "A friend of mine, who has also had breast cancer, was actually in the show last year. I went along to support her and had the most fantastic time, the atmosphere was wonderful."

She added: "I feel extremely honoured to have the opportunity to take part in such a prestigious event.

"I've worked in the charity field pretty much all my my life so I know how important it is to help raise money for your cause. Without it you can't get your message across.

"Breast cancer doesn't have to be a death sentence, I've got it all behind me now and normal life goes on. I don't spend my life huddled in the corner worrying about it."

Actress Claire Sweeney said she was delighted to be hosting the Breast Cancer Care's Afternoon Fashion Show.

She said: "The models, who have all had breast cancer, will give out an overwhelmingly positive message that women can and do still look and feel good after breast cancer."

The Breast Cancer Care Fashion Shows, will take place at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on Wednesday, October 9.
