A FLOOD of thank you letters from pensioners have poured into the Abbots Langley Parish Council after it organised a series of free golden jubilee lunches for senior citizens.
The most recent was held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 26, and Thursday, June 27, in the Manor House Sports and Social Club, Manor House Grounds in Gallows Lane Abbots Langley.
The lunch attracted at least 80 people, which according Parish Clerk Mr Philip Truppin, was an "excellent turnout."
Mr Truppin said: "Senior citizens more than anybody would understand what the Queen's coronation was all about, this lunch was just our way of showing some community spirit and showing them that we care about the elderly people of the parish and all the positive things that have happened in the past.
"Every lunch we have held has been a successful and we are extremely touched by the kind letters we have been receiving from people."
