It was 'ten out of ten' for Tom Avery, who scored ten goals, as the Borehamwood Lionhearts maintained their unbeaten Pee Wee record with a 14-4 win over the Dunstable Gators.

Gators drew first blood when keeper James Cantle saved and turned a goal-bound shot onto the post, only for another Gator to tap in from close range.

Lionhearts attacked with skill, but it took several shots before Avery was able to beat the Gator keeper. This opened the floodgates, as he quickly scored his second from a Craig Bennet cross, and his third, slotting away a rebound. Avery was to complete the half-time score with a low shot, which gave the Lionhearts a 4-1 lead.

In the second half Avery again found the target, before his striking partner Ross Sin-Hidge scored.

Olly Caplan got on the scoresheet when he skated through the Gators defence and put a low shot across the keeper.

Avery netted the next four goals, benefiting from some good ball winning and unselfish passing from Ross Bennet.

Lionhearts then eased up and Gators scored twice, before Sin-Hidge stopped the rot with his second.

Gators scored once more before Sin-Hidge completed his hat-trick and Avery finished his goal scoring masterclass at 10 goals.

The Borehamwood Crusader Knights played one of their better games of the season against the Havering Panthers.

The Knights controlled the game from the start, with Ryan Haylock scoring the first goal just three minutes into the period.

Ricci Roberts scored the second, Ed Barnes the third, James Partridge the fourth and Craig Hedley the fifth, at fairly regular intervals.

While net-minder Ben Raynsford was scarcely troubled, he made the few saves required of him.

The second period was played at a slower pace, despite a goal in the first two minutes from Sam Roberts. The play became slightly more physical and, with Ricci Roberts sent to the penalty box, the Panthers scored their only goal of the game on the powerplay.

The Knights tried hard to score and generally kept possession, but their best efforts

were unsuccessful due to some excellent keeping in the Panthers net.

The pace picked up in the third period and the team came back to life. Jermaine Hall scored a good goal from a set piece, followed by another from Ryan Haylock, after some good efforts by the rest of the team, especially Nick Avery who was unlucky not to have at least three shots go in.

The Knights are now shaping up well, and their techniques and skills are improving as the season progresses. If their play continues to improve the title is not beyond their reach.
