Pondering life at new school pondChildren at Summerswood Primary School are looking forward to spending warm summer days at a new school pond which they helped to design and build.
The school was given a grant to build the pond last year, and since then pupils have been putting in new plants, looking after the fish and watching the pond took shape.
Seven-year-old Samantha Bell said: "There are lots of plants. When we first planted them they were really small, but now they have grown."
Billy Tregunno, also seven, is looking forward to watching the pond grow even more, and his classmates Daisy Loader and Lee Crabtree, who chose some of the plants, are looking forward to sitting outside on sunny days.
"We chose plants with lots of leaves, and some with flowers," said Lee. Matthew Johnson, 11, was happy that the school's teachers had listened to pupils when the pond was being built.
The pond was paid for with a community grant from the Government, and headteacher Sarah Thomas-Burton said she was delighted pupils had been involved in the project, as it helped them to appreciate the pond.
