Three members of the Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue have returned from a visit to a community in Belarus of descendants of the Grodno Jews who survived the Second World War.
Paul Janes, his son Neil, and Susan Zonneveld, who attend the Watling Street synagogue in Radlett, described as "moving" the recent visit to The Menorah Community in Grodno, with which the synagogue has long-standing ties.
Around 180 Grodno Jews were left alive at the end of the war, compared to a pre-war total of 44,000.
The community places great emphasis on children's education because leaders feel this is the key to rebuilding Jewish life in the region.
