PARMITERS SCHOOL pupil Lucy Yates restated her class when she destroyed the field in the Eastern Region Triathlon at Rayleigh on Sunday, June 23, coming home a full minute-and-a-half ahead of her nearest rival.
What makes her achievement all the more impressive is that the 12-year-old was competing against both girls and boys from all over the country in an event comprising a 200-yard swim, 4,000m bike ride and 1,600m run.
Currently the country's number two triathlete in her age group, Yates will be in action this weekend in the National Biathon (swim and run) qualifier at Wymouth, where a good performance could see her take over the number one position.
